Asking clarifying questions rather than making assumptions.
It’s OK to say, “In my experience” or “When I was struggling with this, I found it helpful to . . .” Don’t try to fix anyone.
Use I statements when possible.
Be responsible for your intentions, your words, your actions, and the energy you bring to this space.
Enter the community space with good intentions and be willing to own when your intent doesn’t align with your action.
1. Approach others’ experiences with curiosity and a willingness to learn rather than assuming you know best.
2. Focus on listening and empathizing instead of offering advice or trying to "fix" situations.
3. Practice compassion, not pity or sympathy. We aim to create a space free of condescension or dismissiveness.
4. Avoid assuming negative intentions in others.
5. Sarcasm doesn’t translate well online and often causes misunderstandings.
6. Please refrain from oversharing or disclosing personal information; such content may be removed.
7. Keep conversations inclusive, and avoid dominating discussions.
8. Respect experiences that differ from your own and avoid diminishing them.
9. Take responsibility for the impact of your actions, even if they were unintentional.
10. Be mindful of how your words and actions may affect others.
These behaviors will absolutely not be tolerated and will get you blocked from the community. They are clearly the opposite of what we value.
Avoid personal attacks or name-calling.
Refrain from using put-downs or making demeaning remarks.
Do not dehumanize individuals or groups.
Cruelty in any form is unacceptable.
Ignoring others or intentionally shaming them is not allowed.
Do not share inappropriate or sensitive personal information (e.g., addresses, workplace details, full names of private individuals).
Misrepresentation, such as pretending to be someone else, is prohibited.
Be mindful of the impact your words and actions may have on others.
Avoid spreading misinformation, disinformation, or unsupported claims.
